Welcome to Laconic Events.

We’re Dana and Ethen Colvin, the husband-and-wife team behind Laconic Events, and the artist and craftsman personally involved in every project that moves through our studio, from the first design conversation through fabrication and installation.

We approach each wedding as a creative commission. Every design begins with the celebration itself, its architecture, atmosphere, visual direction, and the way guests will experience the space.

Because the same hands imagining the work are also the hands bringing it to life, we’re able to create one-of-a-kind work with a level of artistry and craftsmanship that feels distinctly its own. From custom wedding installations and statement seating charts to architectural bars, sculptural textiles, and day-of details, the goal is never to make the same piece look different. It’s to create something that feels like it could only belong to your celebration.

Our textile installations are large-scale, sculptural compositions that use fabric as a medium—layered, suspended, draped, and shaped into form. Each piece is created in response to its surroundings, considering architecture, movement, weight, light, and scale to transform the atmosphere of a space.
Nothing is pre-styled. Nothing is standard. Each installation is composed specifically for the environment it inhabits.

This is not your off-the-shelf rental bar. Our statement bars are designed as complete environments—architectural moments built around the visual direction of the celebration. From custom bar fronts and millwork to back bar structures, shelving, lighting, finishes, and dimensional details, every element is considered together to create something that feels integrated into the space rather than simply placed within it. Designed from the ground up. Fabricated to make a statement.

The smallest details deserve the same design consideration as the largest moments. From welcome signage and bar menus to table numbers, place cards, dinner menus, custom napkins, cocktail details, and guest-facing signage, each piece is designed as part of the larger visual direction. Color, typography, material, shape, and finish are considered together to create details that feel connected to the celebration from beginning to end.

Our studio follows the seasons, allowing us to create throughout two of the places we love most.

From June through October, Laconic serves celebrations throughout New England, including Newport and coastal Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Boston, the Berkshires, Maine, and beyond.

From November through April, we return to Florida, creating throughout Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and destinations across the state.

No matter the season or location, every Laconic project remains closely connected to us—from creative direction and fabrication through installation.
